Developmental delay clinic

Developmental delay (DD) in children, is a common and concerning presentation in general paediatric and neurology practice.

DD is reserved for children younger than 7 years of age, diagnosed when a child fails to reach developmental milestones as expected. DD is broad and relates to multiple facets of health that may play a role.

Global Developmental Delay (GDD) is reserved for children younger than 5 years of age who show significant delays (scores two or more standard deviations below the mean) in two or more of the following developmental domains: fine/gross motor skills, speech/language, social or personal skills, and activities of daily living.
