A lumbar puncture involves a needle being inserted into your child’s lower back, between the bones in their spine. This may be needed to find out what causes certain symptoms and/or to treat their condition.
There are a few different reasons why you might need a lumbar puncture.
This procedure may be done under a local anaesthesia or sedation of general anaesthesia. We will advise when we discuss the procedure with you.
